Renew NSW, supported by the Department of Environment and Climate Change (NSW), develops and implements regional waste management and resource recovery plans. These plans focus on a range of issues including:
- Landfill rationalisation and management planning
- Tailored transfer stations to boost resource recovery and improve waste management
- Viable resource recovery systems/drop off centres
- Sharing of infrastructure
- Audits of residual waste in municipal, commercial and industrial, construction and demolition streams (including farm wastes) to evaluate opportunities for improved resource recovery
- Regional contracts for solid waste and recycling collections, organics, used oil, tyres, concrete and masonry crushing and reprocessing, household chemicals and scrap metal (including farm metal waste)
